How Can I Help?
A good way to help the red wolves is to host fundraisers! We have some tips on how to host one like we did.
Set a good date.
Advertise beforehand. Spread the word!
Get supplies. (Table, Jar for donation, handmade merchandise for donors, etc.)
Set up.
Be friendly to your donors; keep them coming back!
Pack up and leave everything as you found it.
Another way to help the red wolves is to clean the environment. You can do fundraisers (see above) to get trash grabbers or other supplies to do trash pickups. Here are some tips for trash pickups:
Go with a group; it gets the work done faster, and it's safer!
Have supplies ready for the event (trash bags, grabbers, gloves, etc.).
Choose a location. We would recommend somewhere near the Outer Banks in North Carolina. That's where the wolves are!
If you see a box on a tree, leave it alone! It might be a wildlife camera!
Don't pick up hazardous materials, such as needles, chemical containers, syringes, weapons or dead animals.
Dress for the weather. Wear close-toed shoes or boots as well.
One of the best ways to help is to spread the word. Doing reports and presentations on the red wolves is a great way to do so. If you get stuck, here are some tips:
Do some research.
What do you already know?
Read books.
Be creative.
If you get bored, take a break.
Add images.
Work as a group with friends.
